Really WordPress?

June 25, 2009

Wow.

I’m surprised and dismayed that in March I sent a request for help in importing some images from my old blog at Blogger.com into my shiny new blog at WordPress. I just received a response today.

3 months for customer service? Yikes.

Breadcrumbs

June 17, 2009

Breadcrumbs: the random specks of reminders of where you’ve been or where you want to go,  found in day to day life.

i.e.

A song you’ve had in your head for days is playing in a city you’ve never been to as soon as you arrive.

Your initials on a bumper sticker on a foreign car.

A fountain coming to life right after you’ve made a wish.

Everyone needs a sign now and again letting them know they’re heading the right way.

Swine Flu Hits Home

June 16, 2009

Well, work really but with as much time as I spend there it might as well be home.

Two co-workers on my team have been quarantined with the flu. They sit within a couple of meters of me (that’s about 7 feet for you yankees). Nobody has grown a tail but they are out for the week.  Crazy.

June 2009 047For example – Bear, another one of my roommates. He’s the size of a small horse and he has no idea. This is the face I come home to at the end of the day.

The Doves at Le National Montreal June 2, 2009

I first heard The Doves while driving down a dirt road in Mexico at about 60mph with my Jersey turned British friend Danimal. At top volume we risked our lives for the sake of supplies like fireworks and limes for the crew back at the house we had rented for the weekend.  Fond memories of a good time with a great soundtrack.

So, imagine my surprise when arriving at Le National here in Montreal – a movie house turned small music venue and watching the band get settled in with their instruments, only to hear off beat (literally)  versions of familiar songs all night. I gave up trying to tap my foot in time because the drummer wouldn’t cooperate for more than half a song at a time.  Disappointing but glad I saw them live.

Paparazzi

Hotel Gansevoort New York May 31 2009

This is a fun photo project to add to when you’re stuck on a rooftop overlooking the Hudson River in Manhattan at an uber-cool pool party for the young elite and everyone looks gorgeous but drunk and unhappy;

Paparazzi – the art of looking like you don’t want your photo taken but looking good doing it.

New Roommate

June 1 Matilda

This is Matilda. She’s one of my new roommates. She’s got a nose like a crowbar and can pry you into petting her no matter what you’re doing.
